PUTTING FOR A PURPOSE
BAKER BROTHERS PARTNERS WITH RACING WELFARE
We recently joined Racing Welfare as they hosted their Charity Golf Day on Tuesday 7th May at the Duke's Course at Woburn Golf Club, by kind invitation of His Grace, the Duke of Bedford.
The esteemed occasion boasted an impressive lineup of celebrities set to participate, featuring notable figures such as 20-time Champion Jockey Sir AP McCoy, Grand National and Gold Cup winning jockey and racing broadcaster Mick Fitzgerald, 6-time World Champion swimmer Mark Foster, and Rewards4Racing boss and Sky Sports Racing presenter Josh Apiafi. Attendees had the chance to team up with a celebrity partner against the picturesque backdrop of Woburn Abbey and its surrounding estate.

Racing Welfare serves as the essential human welfare charity within the racing sector, offering crucial counsel, assistance, and hands-on aid to individuals employed in racing yards, studs, racecourses, and related fields. The Woburn Golf Day stands as a pivotal occasion in the charity's schedule, playing a significant role in generating essential funds and promoting awareness of the invaluable services they deliver.
Jo White, Racing Welfare’s Corporate Fundraising and Events Manager – Southern Region, said: “The golf day is one of Racing Welfare’s key fundraising events and plays an important role in enabling us to provide a wide range of services and support to racing’s workforce.
“We’d like to thank His Grace, the Duke of Bedford, for the kind invitation to host our event at the stunning location of Woburn Golf Club, the celebrities who are giving up their time to attend and the participants who have signed up to play and raise funds.
“It’s a brilliant day which promises to deliver some great golf, with fabulous company, in a beautiful location but with a serious message at its heart – ensuring we can continue to raise awareness and funds for the work we do at Racing Welfare.”
Sarah represented Baker Brothers in presenting the Straightest Drive award at the end of the day.
This year we sponsored the Hole in One competition with a whopping £50k prize for the winner, in addition to the Straightest Drive competition with a stylish pair of cufflinks on offer.
Our director, Lizzie McAuley, said: “At Baker Brothers, we’re not just in the business of selling jewellery; we’re in the business of making a difference. It is with great privilege that we stand alongside Racing Welfare, whose work resonates deeply with our values. Together we not only contribute to the well-being of industry professionals but also uphold our ethos of philanthropy and community enrichment.”
Friend of Baker Brothers, Bentley Cambridge, also sponsored the Closest the Pin competition on hole 12, with four sets of Bentley-branded golf balls for the winning player and his/her teammates.
