THE TUDOR BLACK BAY CERAMIC BLUE
At the beginning of 2024, TUDOR declared its return to motorsport through a collaboration with the new Visa Cash App RB Formula One team. To mark this partnership, TUDOR unveiled a special edition of its Master Chronometer certified Black Bay Ceramic watch, distinguished by a blue dial reflecting the team's distinctive livery. This exclusive watch is now available, allowing you to wear the same timepiece as drivers Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo.
Visually, the TUDOR Black Bay Ceramic "Blue" merges contemporary, high-tech features with tributes to its storied past. Its matte black monobloc ceramic case showcases sand-blasted surfaces with bevelled edges polished to a mirror finish, creating a striking contrast accentuated by prominent lines. The rotatable bezel's insert is also crafted from black ceramic with a sunray satin finish, and the engraved graduations in matching tones provide a complementary matte detail that subtly reacts to changes in light.
The watch is finished with a black hybrid leather and rubber strap, featuring an inner "Snowflake" motif, blue stitching, and a black PVD-coated stainless steel folding clasp. Additionally, it comes with a complimentary black fabric strap featuring a blue band.
The Manufacture Calibre MT5602-1U, which powers the Black Bay Ceramic, features a 70-hour power reserve and exemplifies TUDOR's technical development approach, featuring an adaptable movement architecture capable of integrating new functions without additional modules. Displaying hour, minute, and second functions, it retains the characteristic look and feel of TUDOR Manufacture Calibres, with a distinctive sun laser design and the Master Chronometer inscription on its bridges, underscoring its unique performance. The rotor is crafted from tungsten monobloc and is openworked, featuring laser radial grooving and sand-blasted details. The bridges and mainplate have alternating sand-blasted and polished surfaces with laser decorations.
It has a variable inertia balance wheel maintained by a sturdy traversing bridge with two-point anchoring. It is certified as a chronometer by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), surpassing their standards. While COSC allows an average daily rate variation of -4 to +6 seconds for an uncased movement and TUDOR applies a -2/+4 second variation standard on fully assembled watches, METAS requires a Master Chronometer certified watch to run within a 0 to +5 second tolerance range. Additionally, the Manufacture Calibre MT5602-1U is rated as anti-magnetic, resistant to magnetic fields below 15,000 gauss.
TUDOR has a rich history in motorsport, having supported successful teams since the golden age of racing. This began with the Tudor Watch Racing Team in the late '60s and continued with the recent IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. Now, in 2024, TUDOR is rejoining the racing world by partnering with Visa Cash App RB, a new Formula 1® team led by popular drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda. The team has undergone significant changes, not only featuring a striking livery with TUDOR branding and drivers’ race suits but also revamping its management and engineering departments. This new endeavour aims to establish the team as a frontrunner in Formula 1®.
