THE NEW BLACK BAY
TUDOR introduces the newest Black Bay, the latest technical and aesthetic evolution of the emblematic diving watch with a burgundy bezel. This model features evolved design elements such as a “T-fit” clasp and is Master Chronometer-certified by METAS. The new Black Bay line includes a burgundy bezel, the hallmark “snowflake” hands, and a manufacture calibre MT5602-U certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), foreshadowing the aesthetic technical future of the line. The watch boasts a silicon hairspring and a 70-hour power reserve, while its rotor is fashioned in tungsten monobloc and openworked.
The Black Bay with burgundy bezel maintains its iconic status in this third iteration. The 41mm diameter case has been made slimmer, the bezel has prehensible sides, and the insert features subtly curved numerals. The seconds hand has a lollipop design, and the satin black dial is radially brushed. The crown is redesigned with curves reminiscent of the brand's historical technical watches, and is set flush to the middle case band.
The Black Bay offers a satin-brushed steel bracelet or a five-oval-shaped-link option, with a TUDOR “T-fit” clasp for rapid adjustment. A black rubber strap is also available, with a signature snowflake motif for grip and form-fitted specifically for the Black Bay.
The Black Bay line of TUDOR watches draws inspiration from the brand's dive watches made in the 1950s and 1960s. It features the "Snowflake" hands and spring bar holes passing through the lugs that were characteristic of the earlier TUDOR watches. The line blends traditional and modern aesthetics, bringing together over 60 years of TUDOR dive watches while being firmly rooted in the present. Although neo-vintage in design, the line meets contemporary standards of manufacturing, reliability, robustness, and finish.
BLACK BAY 54
TUDOR has released a new addition to the Black Bay line, the Black Bay 54, which is the purest modern expression of the brand’s first-ever dive watch, the reference 7922 released in 1954.
The 37mm case retains the classic proportions of the original while incorporating modern technology like the Manufacture Calibre MT5400 and a 200m depth rating. The unidirectional bezel is devoid of any graduated hash marks, recalling the early days of the 19050s when SCUBA diving was in its infancy and when TUDOR produced a watch for those daring enough to engage in the sport.
The new aesthetic features a lollipop-style seconds hand and a redesigned crown and bezel, both with historical proportions. The Black Bay 54 also features a “snowflake” hands design, a hallmark of TUDOR divers’ watches. The watch comes with a choice of a stainless steel three-link “rivet-style” bracelet or a rubber strap, both with the TUDOR “T-fit” rapid adjustment clasp.
The Black Bay 54 also features the cutting-edge Manufacture Calibre MT5400, with a power reserve of up to 70 hours. The watch comes with a five-year transferable guarantee and requires no registration or periodic maintenance checks.
The Black Bay 54 is inspired by the Oyster Prince Submariner reference 7922, which was evaluated and adopted by the French and US Navies and widely used by diving professionals. The watch pays homage to the original with small design details that make a big difference. The hands, in addition to proportional adjustments, they’re pinched at the base, the same way they appeared in 1954. The bezel edge has been redesigned as well, with a modernized take on the ergonomic pattern of the 7922. The Black Bay 54 still features thoroughly modern touches, like a subtle satin radial-brushed dial with cutting-edge Manufacture Calibre MT5400 that is built for robustness and precision, with a variable inertia balance wheel maintained by a sturdy traversing bridge with a two-point anchoring. The watch is fitted with a satin-brushed 3-link steel bracelet or a black rubber strap option, both with the TUDOR “T-fit” clasp.
BLACK BAY 31 / 36 / 39 /41
TUDOR has released a new version of its Black Bay line featuring a fixed steel bezel. The new Black Bay 31/36/39/41 models come in four sizes and are fitted with Manufacture Calibres, which are certified as chronometers by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) and have a non-magnetic silicon balance spring. The power reserve for the larger and medium-sized movements is approximately 70 hours, while for the smaller movements, it is approximately 50 hours, making them at the cutting edge of technical watchmaking refinement.
These watches have a unique aesthetic that departs slightly from the brand's iconic tool watch spirit, offering a sophisticated, versatile, unisex look and feel.
The watch cases feature a combination of finishes that elevate the Black Bay 31/36/39/41 in a contemporary fashion, with a curved design, polished and domed sides in all available sizes, accentuated by a new curved winding crown. The five-link bracelet comes with a TUDOR "T-fit" clasp, with rapid adjustment, in all sizes.
The Black Bay line borrows elements from TUDOR's dive watches produced during the 1950s and 1960s. The angular "Snowflake" hands, a hallmark of TUDOR divers' watches introduced in 1969, feature in these watches. The watches are available in blue, anthracite, or light champagne-coloured dials with or without the diamond-dot setting. The minute track on the dials is rendered in a contrasting colour that adds warmth to the design.
THE NEW BLACK BAY GMT
The new opaline dial for TUDOR’S Black Bay GMT line matches the watch’s distinct blue and burgundy bezel. The Black Bay GMT features a GMT function, allowing for multiple time-zone complications and the ability to track local time without losing sight of two other time zones.
Waterproof to 200 metres (600 ft), the Black Bay GMT comes equipped with a robust Manufacture Calibre MT5652, COSC-certified with a silicon balance spring, and a 70-hour power reserve. The all-new opaline dial isn’t quite white, instead, there’s a slight silvery hint to the dial, making it legible and highly functional, due to a matte white-grey finish that is applied through a galvanic process, whilst the darkened marker surrounds create a noticeable contrast. “Snowflake” hands, a hallmark of TUDOR divers’ watches introduced in 1969, with Grade A Swiss Super-LumiNova® luminescent material allow the wearer clear visibility, whether day or night. Additional time zones are indicated by a red “Snowflake” GMT hand, TUDOR's aesthetic hallmark, which rotates around the dial in 24 hours, as well as a bidirectional rotatable bezel that is also calibrated for 24 hours, with the twelve daylight hours printed on the burgundy section and the night-time hours on the blue.
The Black Bay GMT is available with a steel bracelet or a fabric strap, which is one of TUDOR’s hallmarks, woven using traditional methods in France. The fabric strap is black, with a woven burgundy accent that matches the bezel. The bracelet is inspired by the folding riveted bracelets from the 1950s and 1960s, with visible rivet heads and a stepped construction. TUDOR's Manufacture Calibre MT5652 is a defining detail and a must for purist watch enthusiasts, and its power reserve is weekend-proof.
